About Raul Gonzalez Jr.

Independent Candidate for Newlands

Raul Gonzalez Jr. is a proud Caymanian, husband, father, and entrepreneur who has dedicated his life to the betterment of his community. Born in the Cayman Islands and has lived in Newlands for over 24 years, experiencing firsthand the struggles faced by families, workers, and businesses. His deep roots in the community give him a unique understanding of these challenges, not just in Newlands but across the Cayman Islands.


This is Raul’s third time running for office, a testament to his unwavering commitment to serving his people. He believes that leadership is not about titles or status, but about having a heart for the people. It doesn’t matter how educated you are, how much wealth you have, or how many assets you own, if you don’t truly care for the people, you cannot be a good representative.


Raul Gonzalez Jr. has spent his entire adult life as an entrepreneur. He is not afraid to take risks and try new business ventures, always guided by the belief, “If you have never tried, you will never know.” His experiences have taught him the value of perseverance and resilience—qualities that drive his passion for serving his community. He is committed to working tirelessly to create a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Cayman Islands for all.

 With the election approaching, Raul shares his focus on meeting with the people, listening to their concerns, and pushing for real change. He emphasizes that this election is a turning point, not just for today, but for future generations. District Council & Bus Stop Shelter Plans

Our children’s safety comes first. In this clip, Raul discusses forming a District Council to serve as a bridge between the people and leadership, ensuring local concerns are heard and addressed effectively. One of our first initiatives will focus on improving bus stop shelters, creating safer, weather-protected spaces for our children.

 Election Day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2025.  


Polling stations will be open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Election Day.  


 

  • A Caymanian citizen.​
  • At least 18 years old.​
  • Resident in the Cayman Islands at the date of registration.​
  • Have been a resident for no less than two out of the four years immediately preceding registration. 


Polling stations are assigned based on your electoral district. You can find the list of polling locations on the Elections Office website 


Voters are required to present an official ID, such as a passport or driver's license, at the polling station to verify their identity.  


 Yes, if you are off-island on Election Day, you may apply for a postal ballot using Form B. Postal ballots will be issued after Nomination Day, and the deadline for applying is April 17, 2025. 


If you are in the Cayman Islands but unable to physically attend the polls due to illness, disability, or other valid reasons, you may apply for mobile voting using Form C. Elections Office polling staff will visit you in person, or you can vote before polling day at an early voting station. ​ 


To vote, place an 'X' to the right of your chosen candidate's name. You may vote for only one candidate. If you vote for more than one, your ballot will be void and none of the votes will be counted. 


 Yes, Election Day is a public holiday to give voters the greatest opportunity to cast their vote.
